This week, the Magician is breaking out of its sandbox. As our agents get smarter, it’s time to start removing some of the old safeguards we had in place - starting with file handling.

🔁 Smart File Placement - No More .autonomy Shuffle

The Magician is getting smarter - and bolder. He now knows where your updated files belong, and it’s confident enough to put them there.

Here’s what’s new:

  • Updated files are now replaced in-place - no need to copy them out of .autonomy

  • Newly created files go directly to your configured output folder

  • The .autonomy directory is officially retired for file output

This makes the whole flow is faster, cleaner, and closer to “just works” status. More safeguards will be coming down soon... as trust in the Magician grows.

🚨 P.S: After updating, please restart the Autonomy extension to apply the changes.

Click "Disable" → "Enable" in the Extensions tab or reload VS Code.
